Copperhead wines is situated in the heart of the Yarra valley in the parish of Yering. Just 40km from Melbournes CBD.The region has a high diurnal temperature which results in slow ripening and increased fruit flavours.

Nestled in the middle of St Huberts Rd is the home of Copperhead Wines. Though only in its beginning years as wine producers Horticulture is well imbedded in our veins.

We (Hans and Anna Orth) have been involved in horticulture from the time we left school. Both completing certificate 3 in horticulture. Now with over 30 years experience and being in partnership for 27 years.

In the early 1990's there was an explosion in the demand for Australian wine. As our property was situated in the middle of the premium wine producing region of the Yarra Valley, 1 hours drive from Melbourne, we decided to plant grape vines and venture into the wine business. We planted our first vines in 1996 and are still constantly uprooting and replanting as part of the ongoing cycle of the changing popularity and improvement in clones of wine grapes.

Over the last 20 years in this industry we have seen many changes, endured economic and natural hardships but we have learned a lot. We are still learning but believe we have now firmly grasped the understanding and requirements for growing high end grapes for the production of high quality wine.
