The vineyard is now approximately 16 acres. Our vineyard on the northern slope (5 acres) was destroyed in the 2009 bushfires. The vineyard is on the south slope and part of it is planted east-west.
Our aim is to truly reflect the potential of the Serrat vineyard site in our wine. Therefore, we decided to plant at 8,800 vines/hectare, more than four times the average density.
This is undoubtedly one of Yarra Valley’s most beautiful vineyards, with vines traversing the slopes giving one a feeling more akin to the vineyards of Europe.
The Dominique Portet Winery has a Mediterranean atmosphere. Simple lunches are enjoyed, wine tastings, barrel tastings, vintage tours are all part of a busy winery.
